My favorite Hogwarts Class:

When I first heard the news of the 76396 Hogwarts Moment: Divination Class set I got excited. While I don’t think I would particularly excel in the class, I do love the set design in the movie for the classroom, which easily makes it one of my favorite classes from Hogwarts – not necessarily for the magic, but more for the ambiance. I love the use of the fabrics in the classroom, the way the rugs are layered, the color scheme – just everything about it. If I could move in I would!

Knowing the above, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this set is one of my favorite Hogwarts Moment set thus far. Alone the vibrant color of the book makes it stand out from the rest of the released books thus far. I don’t think the other Hogwarts Moment sets are boring, as I am also a big fan of 76384 Hogwarts Moment: Herbology Class, but the vibrant color compared the previous more muted colors does stand out and dare I say adds a layer of fun. Overall, I think the purple works well for the class and looks great with some red hues incorporated. However, as other LEGO reviewers have pointed out when you look at all the Hogwarts Moment sets thus far (as of the 2022 wave), this set really doesn’t fit with its color. I don’t think that takes away from the sets itself, it is however an interesting creative choice. It would be interesting to know if most people do purchase all the Hogwarts Moment sets or if customers are purchasing select sets.

One of the things that I noticed immediately when opening the instruction booklet, we now have a progress line. Maybe one was always there, but I don’t remember Harry Potter showing me how far along I am in the building process. It’s a nice feature to have, however, you can also measure your progress by how many pages you have left in the instruction booklet, though considering the recommended age for this set – I am not the target market. Another illustration that was added to the instruction booklet is how to properly store all the pieces – now that is something that is applicable to all ages!

I must mention that I purchased this set at full retail price of $29.99 USD. The previous sets, from the 2021 wave, I was mostly able to purchase at the sales price of $23.99 USD. Due to the global supply chain issues, I was a bit worried about getting my hands on the set, as rumor does have it the set may be retiring at the end of the year, so I got it when I first saw it. If it isn’t a must buy for you, I would suggest trying to wait till you see it on sale somewhere.

Overall, there isn’t too much complexity to the set, as with all the Hogwarts Moment sets. You have your front cover, back cover, and the book’s spine. The front cover is adorned with the Hogwarts crest, and inside the front and back cover are the typical four sticker pictures. I like the pictures in this one, as they add some more vibrancy to the design. Though I am not very good at applying the stickers and some are a bit off center.

As for the building design, the book’s spine houses a nice little owl status, which does look cool and below is what I would call a diamond looking decorative piece. Below the diamond is a nice little cupboard, which houses the Divination book – turned to the page of the Grim!!! That to me is a detail in this set that makes you immediately think of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” Those are the details that give the Hogwarts Moment sets what I am looking for – a great node to the movie. The archways extend from the sides of the book’s covers and aren’t too detailed and they are somewhat repetitive to build, as both sides are very similar to one another. The set also comes with a nice, comfortable looking chair, as well as a table, two chairs for the students, a tea pot, teacup and most important of all a crystal ball!

Looking at the accessories in the set, I think it covers most of the important things. Granted, we overall didn’t spend too much time in the class in the movies, but the book with the Grim, the teacup and crystal ball seem like no-brainers to include to cover the Divination class correctly.

As for the minifigures, and this was another draw for me to the set, it comes with Professor Trelawney, Harry Potter, and Parvati Patil. I did not previously own the Professor Trelawney minifigure and wanted it in my collection. It’s a very colorful minifigure and looks very accurate – the hair piece with the headband is a true gem!

My final verdict: The Divination class was a set I got excited about when I saw the first pictures of it. This set ranks in my top two of the Hogwarts Moment sets (with Herbology). It is a fun looking Hogwarts Moment set that I will enjoy having on display!

The Minifigures

Included in this set are: Professor Trelawney, Harry and Parvati Patil.

Divination isn't an exact science, which could cause many people to worry.

Minifigures from the back.

The Hogwarts Moment Book

I absolutely adore the more vibrant color of this book!

The back of the book.

Fortunately this isn't the Monster Book of Monsters so no need to stroke the spine to open the book!

When the book is closed.

Top of the book when everything is loaded in (no worries the instructions outline how to place everything inside the book).

Pretty full in there!

Inside the Hogwarts Moment Book

When everything is opened up! The colors are just to vibrant that it already just fun to look at it!

Looks like Harry and Parvati are having a good time learning about tessomancy, for now anyways!

The spine of the book is full of neat details on the inside! Love the owl!

Professor Trelawney is doing some research on the Grim!

I wonder what she sees in the crystal ball...

Typically I am not a big fan of stickers, but the red goes so well with the purple!
